Dear Mayor Johnston,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others. Mayor Johnston, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as current Mayor of Key West, Florida to be very inspiring to me.

In your current role as Mayor of Key West, Florida, I truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, supporting funds for women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy, and working with other city council members to expand on laws to combat against hate-crime to help protect minorities including people who are different.  On the economy, I liked on how you expanded on jobs training programs to help train youth including workers to develop  or improve on work skills to help them prepare for the work force and heavily advocate for the need to raise the minimum wage to help assist minimum wage workers afford to live.  Supporting funds for renewable energy resources to help reduce addiction to oil with gas, encouraging businesses including industries to use energy efficient products to help reduce high energy cost while reduce pollution, and pushing for funds to improve city services to help keep parks, water resources, and coastal areas clean for people to use is common sense to help protect the environment. On education, I like on how you support funds o help improve special education to help students with disabilities to get accommodations they need to learn and push for more literacy programs to help student including adults to develop or improve on their comprehension skills. On public safety, I like on how you worked to push for community policing to have law enforcement officers engage with the community to reduce tensions, push for a requirements for law enforcement to wear body cameras to help reduce police misconduct, and work with FEMA including city services to help build bridges including dams to help reduce floods that are caused by hurricanes from causing danger in the Key West. Another thing that I liked about your work as Mayor of Key Wets, Florida is how you are working to expand programs to help people who are homeless including people who are low-income get shelter including food along with other supplies, support the idea of affordable housing with energy efficient products including solar panels to help combat against high energy cost while allow people are able to afford to live, and push for funds to help repair historical sites including attractions to make learning a better tool while improve on tourism. Also I like on how you are a continuous strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights, express the need for police reform to reduce police misconduct, better environmental protection, and a strong need to improve social justice.

Mayor Johnston, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  On Youtube, I enjoy watching videos of you talking about your role as Mayor of Key West, Florida. Your current role as Mayor of Key West Florida gives me motivation to continue to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference for society. I’m very proud on how you are working hard to support civil rights, protect the environment, improve public safety, expand on social justice, and many others.
