Dear Mayor Schaaf,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in learning history and social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the importance of making Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protecting the environment from pollution, and many others.  Mayor Schaaf, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as 50th Mayor of Oakland, California to be very inspiring to me.

In your current role as Mayor of Oakland, California I’m very proud on how you are a strong supporter of Civil Rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, supporting funds for women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy, working with city council to strengthen laws to help combat against hate crime to help protect minorities including people who are different, and supporting the need for equal pay for women.   Your approach on improving the economy like expand on job-training programs to help train youth including workers to help them prepare for the economy, teaming up with tech companies to find ways to help train people to develop tech skills, and expressing the need to raise the minimum wage to help minimum wage workers is common sense.   On education, I like how you are supporting funds for special education to help students with disabilities get education accommodations they need, pushing for after school programs for youth to  get help on their assignments from tutors,  and working with schools to expand on more arts including history and diversity classes to help make education diverse to learn.  To protect the environment, I liked on how you are pushing for more renewable energy resources to help reduce addiction to oil with gas and working with city council to provide funds to help improve city services to help clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use.  Another thing that I liked about your role as Mayor of Oakland, California is how you are an advocate with a supporter of immigration reform to help protect immigrants including refugees and DACA children from being oppressed, implement citizen police commission to help reduce police corruption along with giving ideas to make the law enforcement work for the people, expand on drug treatment programs to help drug-users get the care they need to reduce drug addiction, work to push for funds to help preserve along with restore historical sites including attractions to help improve tourism while improve learning history with culture, work with law enforcement services to improve programs  to help victims of crime or victims of domestic violence get help on their trauma, and express the need for affordable housing to help people who are low-income or people who can’t afford to live get shelter.  I’m also very proud on how you had the courage to warn immigrants including illegal immigrants along with refugees about he ICE immigration raids  when they don’t have probable cause even though it wasn’t popular or when both political parties in Congress, the president elect, and the news media aren’t supportive for immigration reform or help protect immigrants that are innocent.

Mayor Schaaf, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending  on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  Also your role as current Mayor of Oakland, California gives me motivation to continue to learn history and social justice.  My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need to make Civil Rights stronger,  have immigration reform, protect the environment, and many others. My letter is a gift to you for inspiring me and for Women’s History Month to help recognize women who work hard to make a great difference for society.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference for society. I’m very proud on how you are working hard to support Civil Rights, protect the environment, advocate with support immigration reform, and many others. You have truly inspired me to work hard on my disability and to continue to learn history including social justice.  Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard including having the courage to work hard to push for common sense ideas, and inspiring me.  I wish you the best to continue to make a great difference when political environment is tough.
I hope that I get a chance to meet you and visit Oakland.

Dear U.S. District Judge Morris,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in learning history and social justice.  In these subjects, I like to learn the need for Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, have criminal justice reform to help protect people’s rights while reduce crime, and many others.   U.S. District Judge Morris, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work in the judicial system to be very inspiring to me.

 When you served as Associate Justice of the Montana Supreme Court from 2005-2013, I really liked on how you are a strong supporter of Civil Rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, expressing the need for stronger Civil Rights to help protect minorities including people who are different from being discriminated in public places, and supporting the need to strengthen laws to combat against hate-crime.  Also in the Montana Supreme Court I liked on how were an advocate for the need for criminal justice reform like the need for drug treatment programs to help drug-users get the care they need to reduce drug addiction, support programs to help victims of crime or domestic violence get help from law enforcement resources to get help on their trauma, and express the need to reduce racial profiling in the criminal justice system to help protect minorities including immigrants from being oppressed.  In 2013, I was very proud on how you accepted President Obama to nominate you to serve on the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana to help him improve the judicial system and our country. In your current role as U.S. District Judge, I’m very proud on how you are a continuous strong supporter of Civil Rights and expressing the need for criminal justice reform. Also what I like about your work in the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana is how you are supporting victim’s rights and protect civil liberties like the fourth amendment to help protect people from unreasonable search warrants.

David Lim S.W.A.T. TV Show

Dear Mr. Lim,

My name is Matt Winick, an Asian American and I’m a fan of your acting, my favorite tv show that you currently play in is S.W.A.T.  S.W.A.T. is a great tv show because I enjoy the plot of the show about Sergeant Hondo who becomes leader of S.W.A.T where they work to combat against crime in California and picks his team ranging from officers to help assist him.  In the show I really like on how it focus on how each of the team members of S.W.A.T. learn how to work together on solving a plan to help reduce crime when they have different approaches to handle it and the idea of Sergeant Hondo working with Captain Cortez on trying to make the police department a better place for law enforcement while protecting citizens. Also I really like on how S.W.A.T. has a great diversity in the cast.  Mr. Lim, I think that you do such an excellent job portraying Officer Victor Tan because I like on how you make him have great traits like helping his teammates in S.W.A.T. to find ways to handle a situation, having a sense of humor, and many others. In November 2017 I enjoyed watching 8 episodes of the show because I really like on how each of the main cast makes their character have good unique traits.  You, Mr. Shemar Moore, Ms. Stephanie Sigman, Mr. Alex Russell, Ms. Linda Esco, Mr. Peter Onorati, Mr. Jay Harrington, and Mr. Kenny Johnson do such an excellent job making S.W.A.T. is a great tv show and making the characters great to learn. 

Besides your acting career, I especially like on how you are active in the Asian American community by expressing the need for more Asian Americans to be in the entertainment industry, how more movies including tv shows should add more Asian American cast members,  and advocate for Asian American with disabilities’ rights including Asian American rights.  Mr. Lim, I’m an Asian American with autism including a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.  Also another thing that I struggle with a disability is when some Asian Americans, some of my friends including their peers, and some Asian American parents get judgmental about me due to having a disability and how they believe that I don’t fir their culture. Your role as an Asian American and your advocacy for Asian American with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability and to continue to be confident about being an Asian American when I face struggles.  Also the show S.W.A.T. also helps give me motivation to understand the importance of friendships and working together as a team when there are obstacles.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference on S.W.A.T. You do such a great job making Officer Tan have great traits.  Also I especially like on how you are continuing being active in the Asian American community and advocating for diversity including Asian American rights.  Your acting and your activism really inspires me to work hard on my disability, continue to be confident about being an Asian American, learn the need for friendships, and to be a fan of S.W.A.T. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, doing a great job in S.W.AT. working hard to help the Asian American community, and inspiring me. I wish you well on filming more season 1 of S.W.A.T.

U.S. District Judge Crawford, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work in the judicial system to be very inspiring to me.

When you served as Associate Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court from 2013-2014, I truly appreciated on how you were a strong supporter of Civil Rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, expressing the need to make Civil Rights stronger to help protect minorities, women, and people who are different  from discrimination, and pushing for strict sentencing  for people who commit hate-crime to help protect people who are different.  Also when you served in the Vermont Supreme Court I liked on how you supported the need for criminal justice reform like the need to expand drug treatment programs to help drug-users get the care they need to reduce drug addiction, improve law enforcement resources along with the court system to help victims for domestic violence get help on reduce their trauma, and support the fundamental idea of the importance of reducing racial profiling to help protect minorities including immigrants from being oppressed.  In May 2014, I liked on how you accepted President Obama to serve in the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont to help him improve the judicial system.  In your current role as U.S. District Judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont I like on how you continue t support Civil Rights, advocate with push for criminal justice reform, and protect people’s civil liberties like the fourth amendment to help protect people from unreasonable search warrants.  Another thing is I like how you are a moderate Republican on supporting Civil Rights, supporting criminal justice reform, and many others.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference in the judicial system.  I’m very proud on how you are working hard to support Civil Rights, push criminal justice reform, and improve social justice.  You have inspired me to work hard on my disability and to continue to learn different subjects.
