Dear Mr. Henn,

My name is Matt Winick and I am a fan of watching Disney movies. Mr. Henn, your work as an animator and a supervisor animator for Walt Disney Animated studios on making the character into an interesting with humor characteristic to be very inspiring to me.  My favorite Disney movies that you worked on as an animator are Mickey’s Christmas Carol, Oliver & Company, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahantas, Mulan, and John Henry (American Legends).  I thought you did an excellent job making these main characters from the movies that you worked on especially Mulan and John Henry. Mulan and John Henry are my favorite because I like the symbolism of the characters like working not to give up when times are hard and have courage to do the best as you can.  I consider Mulan and John Henry to be figures of inspiration to me because I face struggles in life due to having Autism with a learning disability and having a disability is hard for me because other people tease me about having a disability, have trouble comprehending on learning new subjects at a normal pace, and I have trouble speaking sometimes. Watching Mulan and John Henry helps give me confidence to work hard on overcoming my struggles by having courage to work hard with having fun, feeling confident that you can do the best as you can, and that everyday there can be a chance to improve yourself.  Mr. Henn, I have an interest in studying history with culture because I’m interested in how diversity with different folk tales made a great difference for society with showing different symbolism. Mulan helped me get interested in studying more Asian culture because I’m Asian American with having an interest in studying Asian history with culture.  John Henry got me very interested in learning with studying on how American folk hero or tall tale influences American History.

Mr. Henn, I am truly inspired by your work as an animator and a supervisor animator by making Disney movies become great with creativity, making main characters have interesting personalities with traits, and showing symbolism with these main characters on improving their goals. Also I wanted to say thanks for making the main characters from the movies that you worked on to help inspire me to be motivated to work hard with having courage when times are hard or when working on overcoming my struggles and getting me to be motivated to learn more about culture with how folk tales with folk heroes can influence history.   I consider Mulan with John Henry to be heroes with influential to me. Mr. Henn, I want to wish you well on continuing making Disney movies fun to watch and making characters interesting for the future. Also I’m proud to call you a great figure that makes a great difference for Walt Disney goals with dreams and making Walt Disney Animation studios stronger with diversity and making movies creative. Keep up the great work. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter and making a great difference for others like me.

Sincerely,

Matt Winick
