Dear Mayor Orr,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need to make civil rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, and many others. Mayor Orr, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as current Mayor of Cheyenne, Wyoming to be very inspiring to me.

In January 2017, I was amazed on how you made history by becoming the first female to become Mayor of Cheyenne, Wyoming. In your current role as Mayor of Cheyenne, Wyoming, I truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, supporting funds for women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy, and working with city council members to expand laws to combat against hate-crime to help protect minorities including people who are different. Expanding job training programs to help train youth including workers to develop works-skills to help prepare for the work force and advocating for the need to raise the minimum wage to help assist minimum wage workers to help them afford to live is common sense to improve the economy.  On the environment, I like on how you support funds for renewable energy resources to reduce addiction to oil with gas, encourage businesses including industries to use energy efficient products to help reduce high energy cost while protect the environment, and work with city council to provide funds to help clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use.  Funding special education to help students with disabilities get the accommodations they need to learn, implementing after school programs to help provide students with help on their assignments from tutors, and expanding more arts, history, and basic classes to make education diverse are great ways to improve education. Another thing that I like about your work as Mayor of Cheyenne, Wyoming is how you are working to push for community policing to help law enforcement officers engage with the community to reduce tension between them, expand on treatment programs to help drug-users get the care they need to reduce drug abuse,  and express the need to have more programs to help people who are homeless get shelter along with care. Also I like on how you are a moderate Republican on supporting civil rights including environmental protection and working with other U.S. Mayors in both political affiliation in the U.S. Conference of Mayors to find common sense solutions.

Mayor Orr, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. your commitment to be a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  On Youtube I enjoyed watching RTW Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr on City Leadership and Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr Wyoming PBS because I had fun learning about how you got involved in local politics, some of your goals as Mayor, and many others. Your current role as Mayor of Cheyenne Wyoming helps me give me motivation to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need to make civil rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, and many others.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference in your current role. I’m amazed on how you made history on becoming the first woman to become Mayor of Cheyenne Wyoming. I’m very proud on how you are working hard to support civil rights, protect the environment, and many others.  You have inspired me to work hard on my disability, learn about your role as Mayor on youtube, and be motivated to continue to learn history including social justice.  Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. I wish you the best for the future.
Sincerely,

Matt Winick
