Dear Mayor Muoio,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in learning history including public policy. In these subjects, I like to learn the need to have Civil Rights be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, improve public safety, and many others. Mayor Muoio, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as Mayor of West Palm Beach, Florida to be very inspiring to me.

In your current role as Mayor of West Palm Beach Florida, I like your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights to help protect women, minorities, and people with disabilities’ from being discriminated in education and public places.  Also on Civil Rights, I really appreciate on how you are an advocate for people with disabilities’ rights, push for funds to help women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy, express the need for women to have equal pay to protect them from being discriminated in pay, and support LGBT rights.  On the economy, I like on how you encourage businesses to hire women including minorities and people with disabilities to work for them, expand on job-training programs to help train youth including workers to develop job-skills to help prepare them for the workforce, and work with local businesses to help re-fix Financial & Arts District to make them safe for people to buy products. Your approach on improving relations between citizens and city government like creating E-Newsletters to help citizens of West Palm Beach know what City Government is working on and use social media to help people understand more about West Palm Beach is common sense. On public safety, I liked on how you expand programs to help train rescue responders to be prepared to handle emergencies, hire police officers along with firefighters to help protect the community while reduce crime, and put body cameras on police officers to reduce citizen’s complaints while reduce police abuse.  On education, I liked on how you fund special education to help students with disabilities get educational resources they need, expand after school programs to help youth get assistance on getting help on their assignments or get involve in recreation programs, and push for programs to expand on arts education including diversity to help make education learning a better environment.  To protect the environment, I really like on how you support renewable energy sources to help reduce addiction to oil with gas and push for funds to clean parks, beaches, and water resources to make them safe for people to use.  Another thing that I like in your role as Mayor of West Palm Beach Florida is how you support preserving historical sites including other attractions to improve tourism while make learning a better place and how you are a member of Mayors for Peace to find ways to improve peace with human rights while reduce nuclear weapons.

Mayor Muoio, I have Autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong support of Civil Rights and be an advocate for people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability. You along with other Mayors that are members of Mayors of Peace motivated me to research more about Mayors of Peace and I like the fundamental goals like the need to reduce nuclear weapons and improve human rights. Also you participation in Conference of the U.S. Mayors working with different Mayors in the U.S. drives me to be interested in studying how different mayors including you work hard to make a great difference for society and how they inspire me to work hard on my disability.   My letter is a gift to you for inspiring me and for Women’s History Month to help recognize women who work hard to make a great difference.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference for society, the world, and our country in your current role as Mayor of West Palm Beach Florida.  I ‘m very proud on how you are working hard to make society a better place by working with other U.S. Mayors and supporting a good cause in Mayors of Peace. Here is a picture of me. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working to make great achievements, and inspiring me.  I was wondering if you could please share your favorite achievements and explain what West Palm Beach is like. I wish you well to continue to make a great impact on society.

Sincerely,

Matt Winick
