Dear Ms. Cho,

My name is Matt Winick, an Asian American from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history, social justice, and current events. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, have social justice to help improve the communities, and many others.  Ms. Cho, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as a news reporter of WRC-TV NBC4 Washington to be very inspiring to me.

In your current role as news reporter of WRC-TV NBC4 Washington, I like on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights causes by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights and expressing the need to make civil rights stronger to reduce discrimination in order to protect minorities including people who are different.  Also I like on how you are a strong supporter of campaign to combat against bullying.  Your approach in the news media like interviewing people about different topics ranging from local politics through other topics, doing hands-on approach with other people in businesses or when they are demonstrating a product to help viewers understand them, and taking the time to listen to citizens of America when they have concerns are great ways for journalism. Another thing that I like about your work as a News Reporter of WRC-TV NBC4 Washington is how you give tips on healthy lifestyles, how to prepare on dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting minorities along with women including people with disabilities who make an impact on the community, reporting on public officials who are corrupt, asking public officials that hard question to hold them accountable, support emphasizing the need for environmental protection to reduce pollution, and many others. Also I like on how you are an activist to help the Asian American community like advocating for Asian American rights including Asian Americans with disabilities’ rights, expressing the need for more funds for the Asian American community to help repair it, and heavily support the need for more educational awareness programs to help educate people including youth about Asian American and Asian culture. Besides your work as a news reporter, I like on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes to reduce discrimination.

Ms. Cho, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.  your advocacy along with support for civil rights including people with disabilities’ right causes really inspire me to work hard on my disability. Also being an Asian American with a disability is difficult when some Asians including some Asian American tease me or get judgmental about not meeting their standards.   Your role as an Asian American role model on supporting Asian American with disabilities’ rights gives me some confidence about being an Asian American when I face challenges.  Also I enjoy watching you give reports  about different current events on Youtube and on your Facebook page I like learning about your work. Your role as an activism and as a news reporter of WRC-TV NBC4 Washington helps give me motivation to continue to learn history, social justice, and current events. My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, and many others.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference in society and the news media.  You really inspire me to work hard on my disability, continue to be confident about being an Asian American when I face challenges, and continue to learn history, social justice, and current events. I was wondering if you could please take the time to answer some of my questions, and give me some advice about working hard on my disability along with how to get interested in the news media career. Also if I visit DC I would like to meet you and take a tour of the news station because you inspire me. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference for society, and inspiring me. Please continue to make a great difference for society and the news media.

Sincerely,

Matt Winick
