Dear Ms. Gutierrez,
My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history, social justice, and current events. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, have social justice to help improve the communities, and many others. Ms. Gutierrez, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as a news reporter/anchor of ABC 12 WISN-TV and your activism to be very inspiring to me.
In your current role as a news reporter/anchor of ABC 12 WISN-TV, I like on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights causes by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights and expressing the need to make civil rights stronger to reduce discrimination in order to protect minorities including people who are different. Also I like on how you are a strong supporter of campaign to combat against bullying. Your approach in the news media like interviewing people about different topics ranging from local politics through other topics, doing hands-on approach with other people in businesses or when they are demonstrating a product to help viewers understand them, and taking the time to listen to citizens of America including citizens of the Milwaukee area or the Wisconsin area when they have concerns are great ways for journalism. Another thing that I like about your work as news reporter/anchor of ABC 12 WISN-TV is how you give tips on healthy lifestyles, how to prepare on dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, reporting on public officials who are corrupt, asking public officials that hard question to hold them accountable, exploring different topics related to medical research to combat against different diseases, highlighting different ideas to improve communities or society, support emphasizing the need for environmental protection to reduce pollution, and many others. Another to mention is I enjoy watching you do the morning show of ABC 12 WISN-TV on Youtube and sometimes on Facebook where you highlight different new topics, ways to improve lifestyle or healthy lifestyle, and many other topics. Also I like on how you are an advocate of the need for immigration reform to help immigrants including refugees from oppressive countries.
Ms. Gutierrez, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts in different settings (social and environmental), and get teased. Also with my disability I have face some challenges on understanding social cues and dealing with social anxiety. Your advocacy along with support for civil rights including people with disabilities’ right causes really inspire me to work hard on my disability. Also I enjoy watching you give reports about different current events on Youtube, your Facebook page, and the ABC 12 WISN-TV website and these things help me learn more about your work. Your work in the new media helps give me motivation to try my best to learn how society works, use critical thinking when understanding things, continue to learn different subjects, and work on improvements on understanding social situations. My future goal is to work in different areas to help emphasize the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities.
I strongly believe that you are making a great difference in society and the news media. You really inspire me to work hard on my disability, be a fan of your work, and learn different topics.
