Dear State Representative Rabhi,

State Representative Rabhi, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as Michigan State Representative from 53rd District be very inspiring to me.

In your current role as Michigan State Representative from 53rd District I really appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of Civil Rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, supporting the need for equal pay for women to help protect them from being discriminated in pay, and expressing the need to expand laws to combat against hate-crime to help protect minorities including people who are different.  On the economy, I liked on how you support an expansion of jobs-training programs to help train youth including workers to develop or improve on work-skills to help prepare for the work force and heavily advocate for the need to raise the minimum wage to help assist minimum wage workers afford to live. Also to add is I like on how you are advocating for the need for the minimum wage to be increased to $15 to help assist minimum wage workers be able to afford things including give them better chance at earning their work quarters.  To help protect the environment, I like on how you are a strong supporter of funding renewable energy projects to help reduce addiction to oil with gas, support the need for an investigation in the Flint water crisis to help people who live in Michigan including in Flint get help from toxic water, and express support to funds help protect parks, water resources, and public lands from being polluted.  Also on the environment, I like on how you support funds for more develop into energy efficient products to help reduce high energy cost while reduce pollution. On education, I like on how you support funds to improve special education to help students with disabilities get accommodations they need and push for more after school programs to provide students with help on their assignments. On health care I like on how you speak out against Medicaid work requirements due to people with pre-existing conditions or people who are low income who can’t do work or can’t afford health insurance. On social justice, I like on how you express the need for better improvements of better access to food stamps to help assist people who are low income or who are in need for nutrition, push for investigations into law enforcement who commit police misconduct, and work with different non-profit organizations or groups to find ways to help people who are homeless or who are low income to get different essential items or care they need. Another thing that I like about your work in the Michigan state legislature is how you are a strong supporter of women’s right to have healthcare, advocate for the Health Care Bill of Rights to help people with pre-existing conditions or people who can’t afford health insurance get the medical care they need without being discriminated,  and support criminal justice reform like drug treatment programs to help drug-users get the care they need to reduce drug abuse.

State Representative Rabhi, I have autism with a learning disability.  Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Also with my disability i sometimes face discrimination in getting help in the health care system or other services. Your continuous strong support for Civil Rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability. Also with a disability in a work environment is hard due to sometimes I struggle to go at a regular pace in completing task and deal with finding strategies to improve myself. I have been a minimum wage worker for about 7 years and I’m afraid that I might not be able to afford to live on my own. I appreciate your continuous commitment to support workers’ rights.  In Ann Arbor, Michigan I enjoy listening to you talk at rallies because I like on how you express the importance of civil rights, better environmental protection, have criminal justice reform, and many others. Also your role as Michigan State Representative from 35nd District gives me motivation to continue to learn history and social justice.  My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need to make Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, and many others.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference in the Michigan state legislature. I’m very proud on how you are a continuous supporter of Civil Rights, protect the environment, advocate for women’s rights, and improve social justice. You really inspire me to work hard on my disability, listen to your speech, and to continue to learn history with social justice.  Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to support with advocate for common sense ideas when the political environment is difficult, and inspiring me.  I hope that you can continue to advocate for common sense ideas and that I get to meet you.
