Dear Mayor Tran,
My name is Matt Winick, an Asian American from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others. Mayor Tran, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as 35th Mayor of San Bernardino, California to be very inspiring to me.
In December 2022, I was amazed on how you made history on becoming the first Asian American woman to be elected to Mayor of San Bernardino, California. In your current role as 35th Mayor of San Bernardino, California, I truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, working with city council members to expand on laws to combat against hate crimes, and supporting funds for women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy. On the economy, I liked on how you support expansion of jobs training programs to help train youth including workers to develop work-skills to help them prepare for the work force and advocating for the need to raise the minimum wage to help minimum wage workers afford to live. Supporting funds for renewable energy resources to reduce addiction to oil including gas, encouraging businesses including industries to use energy efficient products to reduce high energy cost while reduce pollution, and providing funds to improve city services to clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use is common sense to protect the environment. On social justice issues, I liked on how you work with community groups to find ways to help homeless people including people who are low income get access to food supplies including essential items, expand on drug treatment programs to help drug users get the care they need to reduce drug abuse, and expand on mental health services to help people with a mental illness or people who struggle with mental health or people with disabilities get the care they need. On education, I really like on how you work to provide funds to improve special education to help assist students with disabilities get accommodation they need to learn, expand on tutoring services to have tutors help students on learning different assignments, and encourage public schools to teach students about diversity including culture to understand how society works. Another thing that I like about your work as Mayor of San Bernardino, California is how you work to expand funds to fix or restore historical sites including attractions to help educate people while improve tourism, work with city council members to provide funds to help fix the Asian American community, and advocate for the need for affordable housing to help people who are low income or can’t afford to live get access to a place. Besides you work as Mayor of San Bernardino, California, I like on how you use your role as an Asian American to help help advocate including support Asian Americans rights including Asian American with disabilities’ rights, express the need for funds to help repair the Asian American community including their businesses, emphasize the need for educational awareness about Asian American culture including history, and many others.
Mayor Tran, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advanced subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts in different settings, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability. Being an Asian American with a disability is hard for me because some Asians and some Asian Americans get judgmental about me being different from them or not meeting their standards. Also your role as an Asian American and being an advocate along with a supporter of Asians with disabilities’ rights and Asian Americans with disabilities’ rights gives me confidence about being an Asian American with a disability when there are challenges. Your role as 35th Mayor of San Bernardino, California gives me motivation to continue to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need to make civil rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others.
I strongly believe that you are making a great difference for society. I’m amazed on how you made history on becoming the first Asian American woman to be elected to Mayor of San Bernardino, California. I’m very proud on how you are working hard to support civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights, protect the environment, expand on social justice, and many others. You truly inspire me to work hard on my disability, learn more about your work, and continue to learn different subjects. If I visit the LA area including San Bernardino area I would like to meet you because you inspire me.
