Dear Dr. Fauci,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, have universal health care reform to help people with pre-existing conditions or who can’t get health care get help on getting access to health care services, and many others. Dr. Fauci, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work when you served as 5th Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and as 2nd Chief Medical Advisor to the President to be very inspiring to me.

when you served as 5th Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases from 1984-2022, I liked on how you were  a strong supporter of civil rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights and expressing the need for health care services not to discriminate agains minorities, women, and people with disabilities. I like on how you work on expanding funds to do research vaccines to help combat against Swine flue or other diseases, advocating for funds for stem cell research to help combat against different diseases like Parkinson’s diseases or Alzheimer’s, helped lobbying Congress including President George H.W. Bush to support The American With Disabilities’ Act of 1990 to help people with disabilities to be protected from being discriminated in education, public places, and health care services.  Another thing that I liked about your work as Director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases was how you work to expand on educational awareness about how to protect people from cold or flu like symptoms, work on research into combating against AIDS/HIV,  heavily advocate for the need for better health care services to help people with pre-existing conditions or with a disability or who can’t afford insurance get help on health care needs.  When you were in the White House Covid-19 Response Team and as 2nd Chief Medical Advisor to the President form 2021-2022, I liked on how you had the courage to support expansion of production of N95 masks to help provide to people especially the poor  in communities to protect them from the spread of COVID-19,  help President Biden to push for The American Rescue Plan to provide funds to expand on COVID-19 vaccines to communities to help people be protected from the dangers of COVID-19 along with stimulus package to people who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, and support the need to put a cap on high cost of prescription drugs including insulins to help people who struggle with medical issues be able to get medicine without having to worry about high cost.

Dr. Fauci, I have autism including a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advanced subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts in different social settings, and get teased. Another thing that I struggle with a disability is when other people including other adults get judgmental about me being different from them and have struggles to find different methods to improve myself. Also with my disability, I struggle in society including a work place or when I volunteer on trying to do fast pace on different tasks including understanding how to do task efficiently which causes people to get flustered at me. Also with my challenges, I have struggles on maintaining friendships when other people get judgmental about me having a disability or not meeting their expectations. Your advocacy for civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  Your role as 5th Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, as White House Covid-19 Response Team and as 2nd Chief Medical Advisor to the President helps give me motivation to continue to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, have universal health care reform to help people with pre-existing conditions or who can’t get health care get help on getting access to health care services, and many others. I recently saw the documentary Fauci where I liked learning about your early life, how you had to make hard choices during the COVID-19 pandemic, and some of your work as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

I strongly believe that you made a great difference when you served in public service. I’m very proud on how you worked hard to support civil rights including disabilities’ rights, push for improvements in research into medicine or ways to combat against different diseases, advocate for the need for better improvements on health care reform including health care services, and many others. Also I know that COVID-19 pandemic was hard for everyone including you however I like on how you had the courage to make hard choices to try to help save lives during the pandemic along with advocate for vaccines to help reduce risks of COVID-19. You truly inspire me to work hard on my disability, learn about your work, and continue to learn different subjects. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. Please continue to advocate for common sense ideas to help our country during difficult times.

Sincerely,

Matt Winick
