District Office

Dear State Representative Dibert,
My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others. State Representative Dibert, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as current Member of the Alaska House of Representatives from the 31st district to be very inspiring to me.
In 2023, I was amazed on how you made history on becoming the first Alaskan Native to serve on the Alaska House of Representatives. In your current role as current Member of the Alaska House of Representatives from the 31st district, I truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, advocating with members of the Alaska House of Representatives to expand on laws to combat laws against hate crimes to help protect minorities including people who are different, and supporting funds for women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy. On the economy, I like on how you support expansion of jobs training programs to help train youth including workers to develop or improve on their job skills to help them prepare for the work force and heavily advocate for the need to raise the minimum wage to help assist minimum wage workers afford to live. Supporting funds for renewable energy resources to help reduce addiction to oil including gas, encouraging businesses including housing to use energy efficient products to help reduce high energy cost while reduce pollution, and working to provide funds to clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use is common sense to protect the environment. On education, I like on how you support funds to improve special education to assist students with disabilities get accommodations they need to learn and working to expand on funds to better improve tutoring services to provide students with help on their assignments from tutors. On social justice, I like on how you are supporting the idea of having social workers on calls with law enforcement to help people who have a mental illness including a disability or to find ways to reduce police brutality and working to provide funds to improve city services including homeless shelters to help people who are low income or who are homeless get essential items. Also on criminal justice reform, I like on how you are currently advocating for legislation to hold law enforcement officers accountable when they do misconduct or illegal ways that harm citizens, support drug treatment programs to help drug users get the care they need to reduce drug abuse, and heavily support funds to help improve wrongful convictions unit to help investigate any misconduct in cases that resulted in innocent people going to jail for a crime that they didn’t commit. Another thing that I like about your work in the Alaska House of Representatives is how you work on expanding funds for improvements on mental health services to help people with disabilities , people with autism spectrum or people who have a mental illness get help or better access to therapy, work to expand on drug treatment programs to help drug users get the care they need to reduce drug abuse, work on address the need for funds to help improve Alaskan Natives including Native American communities along with their reservation, and many others.
State Representative Dibert, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advanced subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts in different social settings, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability. Also on Youtube and on the news I enjoy listening to your ideas about improvements on social justice. Also on Youtube “Alaska Representative Maxine Dibert Brings a Fresh Perspective to Juneau” on the New Deal Youtube Channel I enjoyed listening to you talk about what it is like being in the Alaska House of Representatives, some of the policies that you are currently working on, how you got motivated to run for office, and many others. Your role as current Member of the Alaska House of Representatives from the 31st district helps give me motivation to continue to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others.
I strongly believe that you are making a great difference for society. I’m very proud on how you are working hard to support civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights, protect the environment, expand on social justice, and many others. You truly inspire me to work hard on my disability, learn about your work, and continue to learn different subjects. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. Please continue to advocate and push for common sense ideas.
Sincerely,
Matt Winick
