Dear Mr. Astin,

My name is Matt Winick and I’m a fan of your acting. My favorite movie that you were in was The Goonies. The Goonies was a great comedy movie about a group of boys Mike Mickey Walsh, Richard Data Wang, Clark Mouth Devereaux, and Lawrence Chunk Cohen go on an adventure to find some treasure to help save their homes in Oregon from foreclosure. Mr. Astin, I thought you did an excellent job making Mike Mickey Walsh a great character with different unique traits like working hard to overcome his challenges of having asthma, helping Richard Data Wang, Clark Mouth Devereaux, Lawrence Chunk Cohen including his brother Brand including Brand’s friends work together to find the treasure, and many others. Also what I liked about your character Mike Mickey Walsh is how he is compassionate including kind to his friends including g his brother despite differences, using critical thinking to help his friends on navigating the journey, being kind to Lotney Sloth Fratelli when he struggles with a disability, and finding different methods to improve himself when he faces obstacles. The Goonies has some good messages about the need to find ways to fix friendships, be compassionate for people who have struggles, and many others. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a great cartoon show about Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo, turtles where they uses ninjutsu to help fight crime in NYC.  In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I liked on how you made Raphael a great character with different unique traits like using his skills in ninjutsu to help Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo, April, and Hamato Yoshi/Splinter to stop crime. 

Besides your acting career, I truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes to reduce discrimination. Mr. Astin, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.  Another thing that I struggle with a disability is when other people including other adults get judgmental about me being different from them and have struggles to find different methods to improve myself. Also with my disability, I struggle in society including a work place or when I volunteer on trying to do fast pace on different tasks including understanding how to do task efficiently which causes people to get flustered at me. Also with my challenges, I have struggles on maintaining friendships when other people get judgmental about me having a disability or not meeting their expectations. Your advocacy for civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  Your character Mike Mickey Walsh in The Goonies and as Raphaell in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles helps give me motivation to continue to have compassion, use critical thinking to learn, and find different methods to improve myself. 

I strongly believe that you are a very talented actor. You did such an excellent job making character Mike Mickey Walsh in The Goonies and as Raphaell in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have great unique traits. You truly inspire me to work hard on my disability, be a fan of your work, and continue to find ways to improve myself when there are challenges. I was wondering if you could please take the time to give some encouraging words when I struggle with a disability. Here is a small donation to help your activism.
