Dear Mr. David Newell,
My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I’m a fan of your acting. My favorite show that you were in was Mister Roger’s Neighborhood. Mister Roger’s Neighborhood was a great educational kid show about Mr. Fred Rogers where he interacts with other people including different characters where they would do activities or talk about educational awareness about different life lessons. Mr. Newell, I thought you did an excellent job portraying as Mr. David McFeely because I liked on how you made him have different unique traits like helping Mr. Rogers on figuring out good advice to a problem, being compassionate for other people who have struggles in life, and having a sense of humor. Also another thing that I liked about your character Mr. David McFeely was how he would also take the time to help others when they struggle in life or give them good advice on how to improve themselves. I really enjoyed watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood because it had many good life lessons like the need for people to be kinder to other people who are different or with a disability, the importance of compassion for people who have struggles, the importance of the need to reduce bullying, and many others. Also what I liked about Mister Roger’s Neighborhood was how the show explored different topics like art, some science, and other creativity.
Besides your acting career, I truly appreciate on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes to reduce discrimination. Also on your activism , I like on how you also advocated for the need to expand funds for special education to help assist students with disabilities to get accommodations they need to learn, support educational awareness about diversity inclusion to help prevent discrimination against minorities, women, and people with disabilities. Mr. Newell, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Another thing that I struggle with a disability is when other people including other adults get judgmental about me being different from them and have struggles to find different methods to improve myself. Also with my disability, I struggle in society including a work place or when I volunteer on trying to do fast pace on different tasks including understanding how to do task efficiently which causes people to get flustered at me. Also with my challenges, I have struggles on maintaining friendships when other people get judgmental about me having a disability or not meeting their expectations. Your advocacy for civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes really inspires me to work hard on my disability. Also I truly admire Mr. Fred Rogers’ advocacy for people with disabilities’ rights causes and his work/advocacy really inspires me to work hard on my disability. Your character Mr. David McFeely in Mister Roger’s Neighborhood, Mr. Fred Rogers, life lessons from Mister Roger’s Neighborhood, and Mister Roger’s Neighborhood helps give me motivation to continue to have compassion, use critical thinking to learn, find different methods to improve myself, and continue to use the life lessons that I learn from the show to find ways to improve myself. During my difficult days of being bulled and being put down due to being different with a disability I would watch re-runs of Mister Roger’s Neighborhood.
I strongly believe that you are a very talented actor. You did such an excellent job making Mr. David McFeely a great character on Mister Roger’s Neighborhood and working with Mr. Fred Rogers to make the show great to watch while learn things including life lessons. You truly inspire me to work hard on my disability, be a fan of your acting including Fred Rogers along with Mister Roger’s Neighborhood, find ways to improve myself when there are challenges. I was wondering if you could please take the time to give me some advice about working hard on my disability, how to continue to be motivated when I have challenges due to the world being hard on me for being different from other people, and some of your insights of working with Mr. Fred Rogers on the show. Here is a small donation to help his foundation. I have provided you with a picture of me with Mr. Fred Rogers historically figure doll that I got from The Unemployed Philosophers Guild as a gift to you to keep for inspiring me. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. Please continue to make a great difference for society.
