Dear Mr. Scillian,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history, social justice, and current events. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, have social justice to help improve the communities, and many others.  Mr. Scillian, the main reason why I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as a news reporter/anchor of Local 4 Detroit to be very inspiring to me.

In your current role as a news reporter/anchor of Local 4 Detroit, I like on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights causes by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights and expressing the need to make civil rights stronger to reduce discrimination in order to protect minorities including people who are different.  Also I like on how you are a strong supporter of campaign to combat against bullying.  Your approach in the news media like interviewing people about different topics ranging from local politics through other topics, doing hands-on approach with other people in businesses or when they are demonstrating a product to help viewers understand them, and taking the time to listen to citizens of America when they have concerns are great ways for journalism.  Another thing that I like about your work on Local 4 Detroit  is reporting on public officials who are corrupt, asking public officials that hard question to hold them accountable, address the need to help people who are poor or who are homeless get the help they need, support emphasizing the need for environmental protection to reduce pollution, and many others. Also another thing to mention is I like on how you heavily advocate for the need for auditing of government agencies including non-profit organizations  to make sure that money isn’t being abused or wasted when they are needed to improve services, heavily emphasize the need for better mental health services to help people who struggle with a mental health or have the illnesses, and support educational awareness about minorities communities.  Also I like on how you talk about the importance of protecting people with disabilities from facing different forms of discrimination in educational institutions, public places, and jobs.  Another thing to add is I like on how you do news coverage about minorities communities that are facing different struggles in life, help do educational awareness about the need advocate for criminal justice reform to help protect people’s rights including reducing wrongful convictions, and many others. Besides your work in the news media  I like on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights causes to reduce discrimination, address the need for combating against racial injustice, and heavily advocate for better mental health services to help people who struggle with a mental health.

Mr. Scillian, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts in different settings (social and environmental), and get teased. Also with my disability I have face some challenges on understanding social cues and dealing with social anxiety. Your advocacy along with support for civil rights including people with disabilities’ right causes really inspire me to work hard on my disability. On Youtube, your page, and on Local 4 Detroit website I enjoy learning about your work.  Your work as a news reporter/anchor of Local 4 Detroit  helps give me motivation to try my best to learn how society works, use critical thinking when understanding things, continue to learn different subjects, and work on improvements on understanding social situations.  My future goal is to work in different areas to help emphasize the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities.  Another thing to add is your work in the news media helps me get motivated to watch different news reporters including anchors across America in different cities in different states to learn more about current events including topics, to even expand on critical thinking skills when I struggle with a disability, and many others. I truly admire all that you do and I consider you a role model for me.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference in society and the news media.  You really inspire me to work hard on my disability, learn about your work, and continue to learn history, social justice, and current events. My letter and picture of me is a gift to you for inspiring to me and as a gift before you retire from the news media career. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. Please continue to make a great difference for society.
