Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman

c/o Office of Lieutenant Governor

115 State Street

Dear Lieutenant Governor Zuckerman,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history including social justice. In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others. Lieutenant Governor Zuckerman, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work when you served as Member of the Vermont Senate from the Chittenden district and as 82nd including 84th Lieutenant Governor of Vermont to be very inspiring to me.

When you served as Member of the Vermont Senate from the Chittenden district from 2013-2017, I truly appreciated on how you are a strong supporter of civil rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, advocating with members of the Vermont Senate to expand on laws to combat laws against hate crimes to help protect minorities including people who are different, and supporting funds for women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy.   On the economy, I liked on how you support expansion of jobs training programs to help train youth including workers to develop or improve on their job skills to help them prepare for the work force and heavily advocate for the need to raise the minimum wage to help assist minimum wage workers afford to live. Supporting funds for renewable energy resources to help reduce addiction to oil including gas, encouraging businesses including housing to use energy efficient products to help reduce high energy cost while reduce pollution, and working to provide funds to clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use is common sense to protect the environment. On education, I like on how you support funds to improve special education to assist students with disabilities get accommodations they need to learn and working to expand on funds to better improve tutoring services to provide students with help on their assignments from tutors. On social justice, I liked on how you are supporting the idea of having social workers on calls with law enforcement to help people who have a mental illness including a disability or to find ways to reduce police brutality and working to provide funds to improve city services including homeless shelters to help people who are low income or who are homeless get essential items. In your role as 82nd including currently 84th Lieutenant Governor of Vermont, I like on how you are a continuous strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights, environmental protection, and social justice. Another thing that I like about your work as Lieutenant Governor of Vermont is how you are working to expand drug treatment programs to help drug users get the care they need to reduce drug abuse, currently advocating for legislation to hold law enforcement officers accountable when they do misconduct or illegal ways that harm citizens,, push for funds to improve wrongful convictions unit to help investigate any misconduct in cases that resulted in innocent people going to jail for a crime that they didn’t commit, and heavily work on expanding funds for improvements on mental health services to help people with disabilities , people with autism spectrum or people who have a mental illness get help or better access to therapy or other health care services.

Lieutenant Governor Zuckerman, I have autism with a learning disability. , Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Another thing that I struggle with a disability is when other people including other adults get judgmental about me being different from them and have struggles to find different methods to improve myself. Also with my disability, I struggle in society including a work place or when I volunteer on trying to do fast pace on different tasks including understanding how to do task efficiently which causes people to get flustered at me. Also with my challenges, I have struggles on maintaining friendships when other people get judgmental about me having a disability or not meeting their expectations. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  Your role as former Member of the Vermont Senate from the Chittenden district and as 82nd including 84th Lieutenant Governor of Vermont helps give me motivation to continue to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference for society. I’m very proud on how you are working hard to support civil right including people with disabilities’ rights, protect the environment, expand on social justice, and many others. You truly inspire me to work hard on my disability, learn more about your work, and continue to learn different subjects. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. Please continue to make a great difference and to continue to advocate for common sense ideas.

Sincerely,

Matt Winick
