Dear Honorable Gray,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in learning history, environment, social justice, and criminal justice reform.  In these subjects, I like to learn the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, have criminal justice reform to help protect people’s rights while reduce crime, and many others. Honorable Gray, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work when you served as Assistant Attorney General of Vermont and when you served as 83rd Lieutenant Governor of Vermont to be very inspiring to me.

When you served as Assistant Attorney General of Vermont from 2018-2021,   I truly appreciated on how you are a strong supporter of Civil Rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, prosecuting people who commit hate-crimes to help protect minorities including people who are different,  and investigate public places that violate Civil Rights legislation. Support drug treatment programs to help drug-users get help on to reduce drug addiction, implement community service programs to help non-violent including non-violent juveniles get help in order to reduce the chance from re-offending, expanding on programs to help victims of crime or victims of domestic violence to get help on dealing with their trauma, and advocating while supporting for the need for funds for DNA testing including forensic science to help reduce sending an innocent person to jail while make solving evidence efficient is common sense for criminal justice reform.   Another thing that I like about your work as Assistant Attorney General of Vermont is how you went after public officials who are corrupt or accepted illegal bribes to reduce corruption and prosecuted industries that polluted the environment to help protect public health while reduce pollution. In your role as 83rd Lieutenant Governor of Vermont from 2021-2023, I like on how you are a continuous strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights and advocating for criminal justice reform. Another thing that I liked about your work when you served as Lieutenant Governor of Vermont was how you supported funds to improve special education to help assist students with disabilities to get accommodations they need to help them learn, push for renewable energy resources along with environmental protection to help reduce pollution,  and heavily work on expanding funds for improvements on mental health services to help people with disabilities , people with autism spectrum or people who have a mental illness get help or better access to therapy or other health care services.

Honorable Gray, I have autism with a learning disability. , Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different advance subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Another thing that I struggle with a disability is when other people including other adults get judgmental about me being different from them and have struggles to find different methods to improve myself. Also with my disability, I struggle in society including a work place or when I volunteer on trying to do fast pace on different tasks including understanding how to do task efficiently which causes people to get flustered at me. Also with my challenges, I have struggles on maintaining friendships when other people get judgmental about me having a disability or not meeting their expectations. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  Your role as former Assistant Attorney General of Vermont and when you served as 83rd Lieutenant Governor of Vermont  helps give me motivation to continue to learn history including social justice. My future goal is to someday work in these areas to help emphasize the need for civil rights to be stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, expand on social justice to improve communities, and many others.

I strongly believe that you made a great difference when you served in public service. I’m very proud on how you worked hard to support civil rights including people with disabilities’ rights, protect the environment, expand while advocate for criminal justice reform, and many others. You truly inspire me to work hard on my disability, learn more about your work, and continue to learn different subjects. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great difference, and inspiring me. Please continue to advocate and push for common sense ideas.

Sincerely,

Matt Winick
