Dear Mayor Pugh,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in learning history, social justice, and public policy. In these subjects, I like understanding the importance of the need to make Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, improve public safety, and many others. Mayor Pugh, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as current role as 50^th Mayor of Baltimore, Maryland to be very inspiring to me.

In your current role as 50^th Mayor of Baltimore, Maryland I like on how you are a strong supporter of protecting women, minorities, and people with disabilities from being discriminated in education and public places. Also on Civil Rights, I like on how you advocate for people with disabilities’ rights, support funds for women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy, express the need for women to have equal pay, and push for laws to combat against hate-crime to protect people who are different. Expanding job-training programs to help train youth including workers to help them develop work skills to prepare them for the workforce and encouraging businesses including small businesses to hire minorities, women, people with disabilities, and LGBT are great ways to improve the economy.  On the environment, I like on how you are supporting renewable energy sources to help reduce addiction to oil with gas while reduce pollution, push for funds to clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use, and create a volunteering program to help citizens of Baltimore clean up the community to reduce littering.  Funding special education to help students with disabilities get educational resources to help them, pushing for funds for the arts including diversity program to make education diverse, expanding after school programs to help students get help on their assignments or help keep them from getting into gangs is common sense.  Your approach on social justice like implement treatment programs to help drug-users get the care they need, work with minorities communities along with law enforcement to find ways to reduce racial profiling, and express the need to help people who are low-income or are homeless find shelter are great ways to improve social justice while improve public safety. Another thing that I like about your work as mayor is how you are providing funds to help preserve historical sites including other attractions to help improve tourism while make learning a better place, expanding on volunteering programs to help engage youth to help their community, and pushing more festivals that feature diversity or the arts to help make communities understand the importance of diversity.  

Mayor Pugh, I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.  Your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights and be a continuous supporter of people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  Also your commitment to find ways to improve social justice motivates me to have an interest in watching documentaries including read some short articles about the need for criminal justice reform, reduce racial profiling along with police abuse, and many others.   Another thing is your role as current mayor of Baltimore, Maryland drives me to continue my interest in learning history, public policy, and social justice. My future goal in these subjects is to continue to visit historical sites including museums or national parks to help engage myself in learning,  watch documentaries including read short articles that focus on these subjects to help me be creative, and learn on how many different U.S. Mayors including you continue to find ways to improve society.

I strongly believe that you care making a great difference in your current role. I’m proud on how you are working hard to improve social justice, make Civil Rights stronger, and many others. You have inspired me to work hard on my disability, have an interest in learning about social justice, and be motivated to continue to learn history with public policy. I was wondering if you could please share with me what it is like being Mayor of Baltimore, Maryland and your goals to improve it. Dear Judge Koh,

My name is Matthew Winick, an Asian American from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in learning history, public policy, and the criminal justice system. In these subjects, I like to learn the need to advance on Civil Rights to help protect people who are different from being discriminated and have criminal justice reform to make the system work for the people while reduce crime.  Judge Koh, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as current District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and your activism on the Asian American Pacific Islander community to be very inspiring to me.

In 2010, I was very proud on how you accepted President Obama to be nominated for seat in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California to help President Obama improve the criminal justice system.   When you testified in the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, I liked on how you express the need for diversity in the court system including the judicial system to help improve relations between the minorities communities and the judicial system and express the need for checks and balances to help protect people’s civil liberties like the fourth amendment with many other constitutional amendment while reducing crime. In your current role as District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, I’m proud on how you are a strong supporter the need to protect for women, minorities, and people with disabilities from being discriminated in education, public places, and jobs. Also on Civil Rights, I like on how you advocate for people with disabilities’ rights, express the need to make laws stronger to help protect women from being discriminated in pay, and support the need to reduce racial profiling in the criminal justice system to help protect minorities.  On Civil Liberties, I like on how you support the need for having a search warrant when law enforcement needs to search a person’s cellphone or their computer to help protect the right to privacy along with the fourth Amendment while reduce crime.  Besides your role as Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, I’m very proud on how you are active on the Asian American community by  advocating for Civil Rights, expressing the need for funds to help assist Asian American communities on getting the care they need, spreading ideas  about the need to improve education about Asians including Asian American culture in the education system, supporting the need for Asian or Asian Americans to be in public officials, and advocating for Asian American with disabilities’ rights.

 Judge Koh, I have autism with a learning disability. Having autism is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.  Your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights and your advocacy for people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  Another thing that I struggle with being an Asian American with a disability is when some Asian including some Asian Americans tease me or judged me based on a disability due to them believing that I don’t meet their standards and some of their social groups reject me for being part of them. When I face these struggles I feel like I lose hope.  Your role as an Asian American and your activism for the Asian Community including advocating for Asian Americans with disabilities’ rights gives me motivation to be proud to be an Asian American when I face struggle with a disability and to continue being interested in Asian American or Asian culture with history. Your role as current as District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California drive me to continue my motivation to learn history including social justice. My main future goals is to someday work in public policy or history to help create common sense ideas to make society better and to feel confident to fit in with the rest of the Asian American community along with making friends with Asian American or Asian.  My letter is a gift to you for inspiring me and to recognize Asian Americans who work hard to make a great difference for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

I’m strongly believe that you are making a great difference serving in United States District Court for the Northern District of California and in the Asian American community.  My letter is a gift to you for inspiring me and for Asian  Pacific American Heritage Month to recognize Asian American who work hard to make a great difference. Also I’m proud on how you are working hard to make society a better place.  You are an inspiration to me to work hard on my disability, continue my interest in learning history including public policy with social justice, and to be proud to be an Asian American with a disability. My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in learning history with public policy. In these subjects, I enjoy understanding the need for Civil Rights to be stronger, protect the environment,  have education reform to make learning environment a better place, and many others.  Mayor Coleman, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your role as 54^th Mayor of Saint Paul, Minnesota to be very inspiring to me.

In your current role as 54^th Mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota, I’m very proud on how you are a strong supporter of protecting women, minorities, and people with disabilities from being discriminated.  Also on Civil Rights, I like on how you are an advocate for people with disabilities’ rights, push for funds to help women including minorities businesses compete in the economy, launch on initiative on hiring women, minorities, and people with disabilities to work for the city government services, express the need to improve equal pay laws to help women from being discriminated in pay, push for laws to combat against bullying, and support LQBT rights.   Your approach on protecting the environment like support renewable energy sources to reduce addiction to oil with gas, implement electric buses for metro transit to reduce CO2 emissions, push for funds to clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use, and encourage businesses to use green technology along with energy efficient products to improve the environment while creating jobs is common sense to make the environment a better place for people including the community.  On the economy, I like your commitment to work hard to improve the economy by expanding on job-training programs to help train youth including workers to develop job-skills to help prepare them for the economy and create Saint Paul Innovation Cabinet, a group with different companies including people with different expertise in technology with science to work with the City of St. Paul to find ways to increase jobs in those areas along with help people with an interest in these subjects to get experience.   On immigration reform, I am proud on how you have the courage to express the need to protect immigrants including refugees from being oppressed and support the need to educate people about the need for diversity.  Funding special education to help students with disabilities’ get education resources they need to learn, expanding after school programs to help youth get help on their assignments from tutors, pushing to expand arts including different diversity programs to make learning diverse, and creating Library Go Program to provide students free access to library’s digital resources like different databases with e-books is common sense for education reform.  Another thing that I like about your work as Mayor is how you provide funds to help preserve attractions including museums to make learning a better place for people, work with law enforcement to combat against hate-crime to protect people who are different, implement treatment programs to help drug users get the care they need so they won’t get addicted, expand programs to help train law enforcement including rescue responders to help prepare them dealing with emergencies, and push for bike paths with sidewalks to protect pedestrians from car accidents.

Mayor Coleman, I have Autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Another thing that I struggle with a disability is when people use prejudice on me due to being different or that I don’t meet their standards and have trouble making friends or losing friends.  Your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights, advocate for people with disabilities’ rights, and push for anti-bullying inspires me to work hard on my disability.  Your work on supporting diversity and expressing the need to protect people from different background motivates me to learn the importance of diversity, learn about social justice through watching documentaries, and  continue to learn more about how Civil Rights is a great factor for society.  Your role as mayor of Saint Paul, Minnesota motivates me to continue my interest in learning history with public policy.  My letter is a gift to you for inspiring me and to help motivate you to continue to make a great difference before you leave office.

Mayor Coleman, I strongly believe that you are making a great difference as Mayor and I’m very proud on how you are working hard to make society a better place. My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in learning history, public policy, and criminal justice reform.  In these subjects, I enjoy learning the need to make Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, have government reform to combat against corruption, have criminal justice reform to protect victims of crime’s rights while reduce crime, and many others.  State Attorney Aronberg, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as former Florida State Senator and your current role as State Attorney for 15^th Judicial Circuit of Palm Beach County, Florida to be very inspiring to me.

When you served in the Florida State Senate from 2002-2010, I liked on how you were a strong supporter of Civil Rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, push for funds to help women including minorities businesses compete in the economy, and express the need for women to have equal pay.  Also when you served in the Florida State Senate, I liked on how you strongly supported funding renewable energy projects to reduce addiction to oil with gas and pushing for funds to help clean rivers including beaches along with the Everglades to help protect it from being polluted by toxic chemicals while making it safe for people.   Another thing that I liked on how you pushed for criminal justice reform in the state senate like expanded programs to help victims of domestic violence get help from services, pushed for laws for tough restriction on sex offenders from living near places where children interact or live,  and sponsored anti-gang legislation which is to restrict felons from buying weapons including tough penalties of offenders who commit gang-violence crimes and improve witness protection program to protect witnesses from being harmed by an offender.  In your current role as State Attorney for 15^th Judicial Circuit of Palm Beach County, Florida, I’m very proud on how you continue to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights, advocate for people with disabilities’ rights, prosecute people who commit hate-crime to protect minorities including people who are different, and work with other law enforcement agencies to find ways to reduce racial profiling.  On victim’s rights, I really like on how you created a program to offer services to women including victims of domestic violence to help them get care for their trauma including different services from court and create educational awareness to help address people including training program to help train law enforcement officials to handle victims of crime.  Establish Veterans Court to have judge, prosecutor, public defender along with veterans work together to find ways to reduce substance abuse or criminal behavior including help them with mental illnesses, expand on drug treatment programs to help drug-users get treatment they need, and create DUI offender program where people with DUI go through a program to learn not to drink and drive along with understand the consequences of DUI is common sense for criminal justice reform.  Another thing that I like about your current role as State Attorney is how you created a Anti-Corruption task force to investigate public officials who are corrupt by taking brides or receiving gifts from lobbyist including lobbying groups.

Also on TheNewDeal website about progressive leaders ranging in different public official positions share ideas about reforming society, I enjoyed reading about your work on criminal justice reform.  On TheNewDeal website I really liked on how you explain what was the problem where you described about how the criminal justice system wasn’t working for people and added solution on how establish a different court system helped improve people’s lives while reduce crime.  After reading TheNewDeal I got very interested in learning more about your work as State Attorney along with understand on how your approach on criminal justice reform can make a great difference.  Your role as former Florida State Senator and in your current position as State Attorney motivates me to continue my interest in learning history including public policy.  

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference for society including the criminal justice system.
