Dear Governor Ige,

My name is Matt Winick, an Asian American from Ann Arbor, Michigan and I have a strong interest in studying history.  History is one of my favorite subjects because I like to learn the need to advance on Civil Rights to help protect people who are different from being discriminated, protect the environment from pollution by expanding on environmental protection with supporting renewable energy, find ways to improve public safety, and improve health care reform to help make public health better including assisting people get the care they need, and many others. Governor Ige, the reason I’m writing you a letter is because I find your work as Governor of Hawaii to be very inspiring to me.

In your role as current role as Governor of Hawaii, I like your commitment to be a strong supporter of strengthening Civil Rights to help protect women, minorities, people with different sexual orientation, and people with disabilities from being discriminated.  Also on Civil Rights, I liked on how you expanded protection to help protect people with disabilities from being discriminated in education including public places and increase funding for educational programs to help promote diversity of Asian Americans including Pacific Islanders. To improve public health, I was very proud on how you pushed for legislation to raise the age to 21 in order to buy cigarettes to reduce youth from getting health risks from smoking with second hand smoke and improve the Hawaii State Department of Health’s website to help consumers see how restaurants including food services do in food safety inspection.  Your commitment to protect the environment from pollution like expand funding to help protect national parks along with tourism from being polluted or disturbed and supporting renewable energy (wind, solar, biofuel, and energy efficient products) to help reduce high energy cost with reducing addiction to oil with gas is common sense. Another thing that I like about your role as Governor of Hawaii is taking the time to recognize people who work hard for the community, Hawaii, and the U.S. like environmental scientist, people with disabilities who work hard to contribute to society, women including minorities who advocate for Civil Rights, and many others.  

Governor Ige, I have Autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects or new things, sometimes I get teased by other people, and sometimes I struggle with communicating my thoughts.  Your work on supporting Civil Rights and protecting people with disabilities’ rights from being weakened really inspires me to work hard on Autism.  Also as an Asian American with a disability is hard for me because I get teased by some Asians including some Asian Americans due to them believing that I’m not perfect like them or that they believe that I don’t fit their high standards. Your role as an Asian American Governor of Hawaii, helping promote diversity, and helping people with disabilities including Asians with disabilities including Asian American with disabilities really inspires me to be condiment about being an Asian American with a disability and be interested in learning about diversity. Also your role as Governor of Hawaii really inspires me to continue being motivated to be interested in learning history, world culture, and the need for diversity. My future goal is someday teach history to help people learn the need to make society better or work in public policy to help create good ideas to make society a better place for people including people who are different. My letter is also a gift to you  for May Asian-Pacific Islander Heritage Month for making a great difference and to help honor influential Asian Americans who work hard to make a great difference.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference in your current role as Governor of Hawaii.  You have inspires me to work hard on my disability, be confident about being an Asian American with a disability with being interested in Asian or Asian American culture, and to be interested in learning history with diversity.  I plan on continuing praising people who work hard to make a great difference or inspire me to continue working hard or learn more things. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make great achievements as Governor, and inspiring me. Please feel free to share my letter with your family and your administration. I hope someday I can visit Hawaii and I wish you well on continuing making a great difference for society.

Dear Senator Kassebaum Baker,

My name is Matthew Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in studying history and public policy. The main reason I  consider these subjects to be my favorite because I like to learn the need to advance on Civil Rights to help protect people who are different from being discriminated, protect the environment from pollution,  expand health care reform to help people with pre-existing conditions or who can’t afford get the care they need, and many others.  Senator Kassebaum Baker, I find your work as a moderate Republican U.S. Senator from Kansas on different issues to be very inspiring to me.

When you served in the U.S. Senate in 1978-1997, I liked on how you were a moderate Republican instead of going extreme and working with another political party on different issues.   On health care, I was very proud on how you were bipartisan by working with Democratic U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy from Massachusetts on creating health care legislation called The Kennedy-Kassebaum Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act which is to protect health insurance coverage for workers including their families when they leave or lose a job, expand on technology to find ways to reduce insurance fraud caused by insurance companies,  and many others. In the healthcare issue, I was very amazed on how you showed your moderate role on helping recruit moderate Republicans to help support this bill.  Your record on Civil Rights like supporting protecting women, minorities, and people with disabilities from being discriminated in public places including education, expressing the need for equal pay for women in workforce, and funding women including minorities’ businesses so they can compete in the economy is common sense.  Another thing on Civil Rights that I truly appreciated was how you joined Senator Bob Dole, Senator Richard Lugar, Senator Alan K. Simpson, Senator Tom Harkin, Senator Ted Kennedy, and Senator Harry Reid on supporting including passing The American With Disabilities Act of 1990 which is to protect people with disabilities from being discriminated in education including public places and even require them to have accommodations to help people with disabilities.  On the environment, I liked on how you supported the Clean Air Act of 1990 to require clean burning fuel to reduce carbon emissions including protect public health, expand on conservation to help protect national parks from being disturbed, and support the need for renewable energy like wind, solar, safe biofuel, and energy efficient products.

Senator Kassebaum Baker, I have Autism with a learning disability and having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects and sometimes I struggle with communication.  Your support for the ADA of 1990 helped benefit me to be protected from being discriminated based on a disability by expanding on Civil Rights and helped me get an education. In education the ADA legislation helped set up accommodations in elementary school through community college that was extra time on exams, have T.A. or tutors work with me on different subjects,  allow educational software to help me work on improving comprehension, and use a recorder on lectures to help improve on note-taking. Also the ADA of 1990 helped set up close caption with subtitles when watching tv, movies, and documentary which really helps improve my vocabulary, understand speech, and even helps me learn different topics.  The ADA helped me get an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  My main focus in my degree is history, government, some science, some business, and criminal justice. I wanted to say that I’m sorry for your loss of your husband former U.S. Senator Howard Baker from Tennessee because he was a true inspiration to me to be interested in U.S. history and his quote “moderate isn’t a dirty word” really taught me about the need to have people represent good ideas instead of going too extreme or state controversial views.   

Senator Kassebaum Baker, I strongly believe that you and your husband made a great difference in your role as U.S. Senators. Again, I’m sorry for your loss and my prayers are for you to do well. Your support for the ADA of 1990 really helped benefit me for the future. You have truly made a great impact on me to continue working hard on Autism and to continue studying history.  Here is a picture of me as a gift to you for inspiring me. My name is Matt Winick, an Asian American from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in studying history and public policy.   The main reason I have a strong interest in studying these subjects is to learn the need to advance on Civil Rights to help protect people who are different from being discriminated, protect the environment from pollution, and many others. The main reason I’m writing you a letter is because I find your work as State Representative in House District 6 to be very inspiring to me.

In your current role as State Representative in House District 6, on Civil Rights, I like your strong commitment to protect women, minorities, and people with disabilities from being discriminated in public and education.  To protect the environment, I am very proud on how you are advocating and supporting the need to protect the environment like pushing funds for renewable energy to reduce addiction to oil with gas, express the need to make water clean for people to have access to, and support funds to help communities get the care they need to clean pollution.  I am proud of your commitment to be a strong advocate for women’s rights by expressing the need to expand health care coverage for women, protecting women’s right to choose, and supporting equal pay for women.  During May, I am very grateful on you worked with Asian Pacific American Legislative Caucus, Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission, and APIAVote-MI to help spread awareness about Asian Americans, Asians, Asians including Asian Americans with disabilities and helping educate people about their culture.

State Representative Chang, I have Autism and having Autism is difficult for me because I struggle on comprehending on learning different subjects including new subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.  Your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights and be an advocate for people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on Autism.   Also being an Asian American with a disability is hard for me because I get teased by some Asians along with some Asian Americans because I have a disability and they judged me on how I’m not perfect like them or fit well with others.  It is hard for me with a disability being put down by other people especially some Asians and some Asian Americans. However, your commitment to help spread awareness about Asian Pacific Islanders and helping advocate Asians and Asian Americans with disabilities really inspires me to be proud to be an Asian American with a disability and to continue being interested in their culture and even understand the importance of their awareness.  Your work as State Representative really helps me continue being inspired to continue learning public policy with history to help understand the need to make society better. My main future goal is someday teach people about the need to learn not to repeat the same mistakes with the need to improve society or work in public policy to help create good common sense ideas to help society be a better place. My letter is also a gift to you for Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May to help recognize Asians including Asian Americans like you who make a great difference for society,

State Representative Chang, I strongly believe that you made a great difference in your current role as State Representative in House District 6. I’m very proud on how you work really hard to advocate for great ideas to make Michigan and history a better place. Another thing is I’m very proud on how you have the courage to help address the need for awareness of Asians and Asian Americans.  You have truly inspired me to work hard on my disability, be confident about being an Asian American with a disability, and continue my interest in history with public policy. Dear Mr. Jonny Lee Miller,

My name is Matt Winick and I am a fan of you playing Sherlock Holmes on Elementary series that currently airs on CBS.  I myself am a huge fan of reading and watching Sherlock Holmes. The main reason I enjoy Sherlock Holmes is because I like his personality including his traits at solving crimes by taking the time to review evidence, reenact some of the crime scene, and using deductive reasoning when reviewing evidence, noticing something unusual about a scene, and interviewing different suspects.  During my childhood to present I have always enjoyed reading short stories collection of Sherlock Holmes like The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, and The Return of Sherlock Holmes.  Another reason I really like the Sherlock Holmes novels is because he has an interesting working relationship with Watson, his partner.

In 2012, when I saw the first season of Elementary I became a fan of the show because I really liked on how you made Sherlock Holmes an interesting character in a setting of New York City. Also after reading short stories of Sherlock Holmes including learning more about his style along with personality and watching you play Sherlock Holmes I consider you the best actor for Sherlock Holmes because you do such a great job expanding on Mr. Holmes traits liked using deductive reasoning when coming on to a case, notice something unusual about a crime scene, taking the time to review questions, working on theories to find what caused the crime, using different question techniques on different witness or suspects when questioning them. Also in Elementary, I really like on how you make Sherlock Holmes a great character by making him work hard to overcome his struggle with addiction to drugs or losing someone who he cares about.  Mr. Miller, I think you are doing a great job working with Ms. Lucy Liu on making Sherlock Holmes and Ms. Joan Watson a great team by working together on solving cases while working together to repair their friendship or struggles when they have a disagreement or an issue.  Elementary has a great balance between drama, solving cases, and having humor which I really enjoy watching. The pilot episode was a great episode because it helped understand the origin of Sherlock Holmes and also how Ms. Joan Watson became a companion later partner of him solving cases.  So far I enjoyed watching season 1-3 and really liked all the episodes.

Mr. Miller, I am proud to consider you one of my favorite actors to play Mr. Sherlock Holmes because you do such a great job portraying Mr. Sherlock Holmes on Elementary and you do such a great job making Sherlock Holmes have different ways of using deductive reasoning just like the him in the books I’ve read. Another thing is I really like is how you have a great balance of Mr. Holmes of being humorous while working to overcome his struggles or solving cases. I’m excited to watch season 4 of Elementary this year and see you with Ms. Lucy Liu on making Elementary a great show and making Mr. Holmes and Ms. Watson a great team. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, doing a great job making Mr. Holmes great with expanding on his traits, working well with Ms. Lucy Liu to make Elementary show great, and helping me get even motivated to be more of a fan of Sherlock Holmes. Have a great season 4 and a great year!

The main reason I have a strong interest  in these subjects is to learn the need to advance on Civil Rights to protect people who are different from being discriminated, have healthcare reform to help people with medical problems get the care they need, protect the environment from pollution, and many other. Governor Beshear, I find your work as Governor of Kentucky to be very inspiring to me.

When you served as Governor of Kentucky from 2007-2015, I liked on your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights to help protect women, minorities, and people with disabilities from being discriminated in education, pay, and public places.  To make school environment safe, I was very proud on how you pushed and signed the anti-bullying legislation to help protect people who are different or with a disability from being bullied. In the anti-bullying legislation, I liked on how you expanded training programs to help teacher including school officials to identify bullying and how to help educate people about the need to reduce bullying.   On the energy issue, I liked your approach on providing housing including businesses to have energy efficient products to help reduce waste, high energy cost, and pollution and support for wind, solar, and biomass to end our addiction to oil with gas.  Your common sense approach on to reduce drug rates by having treatment programs for non-violent drug users, create a program for accused substance abusers to go through treatment before having a trial, implement assistance program to help victims of domestic violence or a victim of crime get treatment they need, and expand on community services to help rehabilitate juveniles so they won’t re-offend is a great way to reform the criminal justice system.   To improve healthcare, I was very proud on how you had the courage to implement KYNECT, a health care exchange reform to help Kentuckians with pre-existing conditions including people who are poor get the medical care they need and also make health insurance companies work together with the state government to help provide medical resources. Also when you were Governor of Kentucky, I liked on you provided funds to help preserve historical sites and clean national parks from being polluted to help improve tourism and to make history a better place.

Governor Beshear, I have Autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects, sometimes I struggle with communication, and sometimes I get teased.  Your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights, protect people with disabilities’ rights, and support anti-bullying legislation really inspires me to work hard on Autism. Your role as Governor of Kentucky got me really interested in continue studying history. My future goal is to someday teach people about the need to improve society or work in public policy to help create good common sense policy ideas to help make society better.  Also you role on supporting healthcare reform and creating a campaign Save Kentucky Healthcare got me really interested in reading articles about the need for healthcare reform and watch documentaries about the importance of health care reform with stories from people who can’t afford insurance or have pre-existing conditions struggle to get healthcare. I agree with on the need to have healthcare reform and protect it form being weaken to help people get medical care they need.

I strongly believe that you made a great difference in your role as Governor of Kentucky. Governor Beshear, you have inspired me to work hard on my disability, continue my interest in learning history, and to learn the need for healthcare reform.  Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, making great achievements in your role as Governor of Kentucky, and inspiring me. Please share my letter of appreciation f your achievements with how you inspire me with your family.
