Dear Senator Pressler,

My name is Matthew Winick and I am amazed by your bipartisan work in the Senate on an important legislation that helped benefit me for the future. Senator Pressler, thank you for supporting with other Senators like Ted Kennedy, Bob Dole, Richard Lugar, John Warner, Joe Biden, and Tom Harkin from both parties on a bipartisan bill known as The Americans With Disability Act of 1990.  I have autism with a learning disability since my childhood and still today. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning new subjects and sometimes I get teased by other people.  The Americans With Disabilities Act helped me get an education by having an special education program to have a special education teacher with a T.A. to help me learn different subjects with working on homework to catch up with other students.  In education The ADA really helped me in education by having accommodations like extra time on exams, record lectures on a digital recorder to help me take notes in class, and extra time on homework to help me get caught up with other class students. In technology the ADA helped me by having audio books, having articles read back to me when highlighting, and having close captions on t.v. helped me improve on comprehension along with vocabulary. I am touched by your moderate stance to help improve Civil Rights and support the ADA which made a great difference for me. Without the ADA I would have trouble getting an education or not be able to comprehend on learning new subjects. I have taken some class at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor studying history, political science, world culture, some business, criminal justice system, and some science because I want to use these subjects to make a difference for the world in the future.  MY goal is to use history with these subjects to help generate new ideas to make a future a better place and educate people the need to reform to make a world a better place.

Even though I am not the same political party as you I truly admire your work with stance on the need to improve Civil Rights to end discrimination for people who are different, support women’s rights, advocating technology to help people like me, support the need for campaign finance reform to make elections become democratic, protect the environment from pollution by supporting alternative energy, and bringing the need for government reform to end the corruption, abuse in pay raises on congressional members, reduce the lobbying along with PACS from bribing Congress with money and gifts.  Recently I heard in the news that you are running as an Independent for South Dakota Senate Race 2014.  I strongly believe that you will make a great difference as an Independent Senator in Congress after you help make a difference for me with your support of the ADA, your moderate stance from extreme views, your courage to say no to a bribe in the Abscam scandal, and the bipartisan work with President Carter, Ford, Bush Sr., and President Obama.   

Thanks for taking the time to read my letter and helping support the ADA with some of the other Senators I mention.  As a history student I believe that you have made a great difference in American history by working to make a world a better place. Also I want to wish you good luck in the Senate race. Even though elections are hard I want you to not give up hope and continue on advocating for the people, the need for Civil Rights to end discrimination, support better healthcare for people who can’t afford and the need to end lobbying influence on Washington.

Dear Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum,

My name is Matthew Winick and I recently graduated from Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor Michigan. My main focus was studying history, political science, criminal justice, world cultures, and some business.  My favorite of all of these subjects is history. The reason I love studying history is to recognize famous people along with minorities, gender, people with disabilities, and people with different orientation who work hard to make a difference in the world, how they overcome their struggle, and how they work to advocate for equal rights with Civil Rights to end discrimination.  As a history student most of my school year I enjoy learning about Dwight D. Eisenhower’s life. He is one of my favorite famous Americans because he made a difference in American history as a General for WWII and as U.S. President. In College I had a pleasure to work on an essay about Dwight D. Eisenhower. I really enjoy learning about him on how he really made a great difference in America along with around the world. When working on my essay about him I was moved by how he was a moderate Republican as President who gave award to Asian Americans along with minorities who served in the military, supported Civil Rights to help minorities from being discriminated, assisted nine African American students at Little Rock Nine by sending the military to guard them from being attacked, and how he was able to fund money to improve roads with transportation and create jobs under The Federal Aid Highway Act. Also I was amazed by his work on foreign policy like ending then Korean War by diving the 38^th parallel.  Dwight Eisenhower was a great Allied Supreme Commander who gave confidence to Allied troops and created D-Day to help Allies troops pass the Normandy Beach with Operation torch where the allies pushed Nazis out of Africa.

As a history student and an Asian American I am moved and inspired by President Eisenhower’s achievements to help minorities. Also what I like about Eisenhower was he warned about the military complex industries because he wanted to protect people’s civil liberties from being violated and end the corruption from special interest groups.  I am sending you a copy of  my essay about Dwight Eisenhower, my endorsement letter to Eisenhower Memorial for D.C., and my bio praising Eisenhower’s work to help minorities, and also I was wondering if you can send my letter with sharing her my essay, endorsement, and my bio to Susan Eisenhower, Granddaughter of Dwight Eisenhower. Thanks for reading my letter and I hope someday I can visit The Eisenhower Presidential museum and the memorial in DC.

Dear Mrs. Eisenhower,

My name is Matthew Winick with a strong interest in studying history and government. Mrs. Eisenhower, I am truly inspired by your grandfather President Dwight D. Eisenhower work and his achievements to make a world a better place.  As a history student I had a pleasure to study about your grandfather and write an essay about his life and his achievements.  When studying about him I was touched and moved because President Dwight Eisenhower had a heart who cared for the people including minorities. Your grandfather really inspired me because he was a moderate Republican who supported extending social security to help minorities with health insurance, strongly supported Civil Rights, and have federal spending to help create jobs and improve transportation under the Federal Highway bill. As an Asian American I am proud to call to President Dwight Eisenhower my hero for working hard to help minorities get the help they need from discrimination along with him awarding minorities including Asian Americans.  Your grandfather also inspired me from his speech about warning about the military complex industry because he cared about safeguard of people’s civil liberties and wants America to be a better place from corruption of special interest groups with military complex industries making Congress corrupt with lobbying money. Mrs. Eisenhower I am also inspired by how you work hard to keep Eisenhower’s legacy alive by advocating to help countries build better relations with other countries, help advocate people who are different from discrimination, and help support job creation from government by testifying in Congress.  I am also proud to support The Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial in D.C. and I have my endorsement letter that I had written to the commission last year. I understand that you disagree with the design, but the main reason I really support moving this memorial project forward is because your grandfather really made great achievements to help people, I believe that it is time to honor your grandfather for his work to make a world a better place, and also I believe that having a memorial for Dwight will help Americans along with troops/ veterans feel confident and learn more about his work. Got a letter today from Victoria Kennedy after I asked EMK institute to send a copy of my letter to her about how her husband Ted Kennedy make a great difference with how he help pass a legislation which helped benefit me and sent her my sympathy to her for losing her husband. My name is Matthew Winick, who recently graduated from Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts.  My main focus in Liberal Arts is history, political science, world culture, some business, and some science. I enjoy learning these subjects especially history because I really enjoy learning the need for government to help people with different needs, find ways to protect the environment by using clean alternative energy to reduce pollution, to find ways to improve Civil Rights to end discrimination for people who are different, and to make a world a better place by improving human rights, immigration reform to help the refugees or other immigrants, and finding ways to improve relations with other foreign countries. Senator Simpson I want to really say thank you for your work with support on the bipartisan bill The American With Disabilities Act with Senator Bob Dole, Tom Harkin, Ted Kennedy, Richard Lugar, and John Warner. The ADA helps benefit me with educational programs, accommodations, and assistance due to my learning disability with Autism. Having the disability is hard because I have trouble comprehending on learning new subjects and it takes me a lot of time to learn new things. The ADA put me in special education classes to help me improve comprehension with getting assistance on getting classwork with homework done. The Special education classes really benefited me through middle school through high school by having a teacher with a T.A. to work with me on different subjects and to help me with comprehension. The accommodations from the ADA like extra time on exams, take exams in a different setting to reduce distractions, and record lectures to help improve my note taking really help me to work with improving on my comprehension. Beside the ADA benefiting me on education it helped improve technology which really helped me. In technology the ADA helped me by having technology software programs to read when typing papers or highlighting articles or reading passages to me to help me learn subjects with benefiting me to comprehend on subjects. Also the ADA made technology useful by having audio books which helped me with comprehension when reading books, also it helped improve my speech by having software listen to me speak to help improve my speech patterns, and when watching T.V. or movies close captions really help me improve on vocabulary with understanding people speaking.

During President Obama’s first term when he created National Commission of Fiscal Responsibility and Reform I was very proud that you had the courage to join Mr. Erskine Bowles, a Democrat to work on the Simpsons-Bowles plan, a bipartisan idea to help improve the economy from being in a recession.  At Washtenaw Community College I took a class “Intro To Business”. I really enjoy the class because I learn how business works, understand the need to help small business, learn about liability with patent rules, and rules that affect businesses. My business teacher Kimberly Hurns really helped get me inspired to learn about business, economy,  and understanding about budget.  She recommended me to look at the Simpson Bowles plan by reading about your plan and doing budget simulations to learn more about your plan. Studying econ, business, and budget was hard for me. However I really had fun understanding business from my teacher and learning more about the Simpson Bowles plan from you and Mr. Bowles. You and Mr. Bowles really make a great team and really make a difference showing bipartisan approach. When studying your plan I really agreed with the need to increase revenue like ending taxbreaks for corporations that send jobs overseas or raise taxes on the wealthy, the need for job training programs, and the need for health care reform. I was disappointed when Congress which is in gridlock rejected your and MR. Bowles bipartisan idea, however I felt proud of your bipartisan work with another political party to find ways to improve the economy.

Senator Simpson thanks for taking the time to read my letter. Thank you for your hard work on the ADA which help benefit me for the future in education and civil rights. Senator Simpson I am proud of you for not using ideology or controversial views when working on bipartisan ideas with another political party.  Your courage on being bipartisan, being a moderate, and finding ways to improve society really makes a great difference in our country and inspires me to continue on learning new subjects and to create new ideas to make society better for the future. Also I was wondering if you could please share my letter with Mr. Bowles. I wish you well in life, keep up the good work, and keep advocating with Mr. Bowles on the need for your plan to get support from the people.

Dear Senator Cleland,

My name is Matthew Winick with a strong interest in history. History is my favorite subject because I enjoy learning not to repeat the same mistakes, the need to advance on Civil Rights legislation to protect people who are different from discrimination, to honor troops or famous people who made a difference or risk their lives to protect us, and find ways to avoid war or get into conflict with other countries. Mr. Cleland I have read your book Strong at the Broken Places and Heart of a Patriot: How I found the Courage to Survive Vietnam, Water Reed, and Karl Rove. Your book really moved me because I felt sorry about how you lost your legs by having a triple amputee due to a grenade explosion during the Vietnam War, how you had physical therapy to help you improve, to not give up on your disability, and your courage with making a difference in the Senate by having a good heart of a patriot and to make a world a better place. Your books really helped with inspire me to not give up hope because I have autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is very difficult for me because I have trouble speaking along with comprehending on learning different subjects. “Strong at the Broken Places” and “Heart of a Patriot: How I found the Courage to Survive Vietnam, Water Reed, and Karl Rove” really help motivate me to not give up when having a disability, to work hard to learn new subjects, and to continue on working on different hobbies.

Senator Cleland I am really amazed about when you were in the Senate having the courage to support veterans with troops to get the care they need, support protecting the environment from pollution, and help protect people who are different from discrimination. Your memoir and your hard work in the Senate really made a great difference for our country. In 2009 I was very proud to see you get appointed by President Obama to be the Secretary of American Battle Monuments Commission. With your experience as a survivor of the Vietnam War, being an Administrator of Veterans Affair, and being a U.S. Senator from Georgia with great work I am confident that you will make a great difference honoring the men, women, youth, people with disabilities, and veterans who risk their lives in wars to protect us from danger. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter, help give me confidence through your books to overcome my disability, and make a great difference for America and history.
